Cat Vann,
Holy Hotness! This has been one release I’ve been waiting for since the wrap of of the kings and these authors did not disappoint! This book starts the dukes off with a bang! Literally! Diving back into this world I could not be more excited about seeing the different royals and their stories!!!
Maggie Lawrence,
Great start to a new seriesI am not ok, that ending just destroyed me。 Angel and Samantha together are a force of nature and this book is no exemption。 This book is completely different to the Lord's books while still comfortably in the same world。 Pay heed to the trigger warnings, they are not playing around。 Great start to a new seriesI am not ok, that ending just destroyed me。 Angel and Samantha together are a force of nature and this book is no exemption。 This book is completely different to the Lord's books while still comfortably in the same world。 Pay heed to the trigger warnings, they are not playing around。 。。。more

Just wow。 I absolutely loved Remy out of the dukes。 Crazy with a touch of sweet。 He’s so misunderstood。 Sy was a close second but Nick is on my s**t list。 Vinny has been through so much but I know she’ll come out fighting and stronger。 I can’t wait for the next book

Dukes of Ruin is the beginning of our time with the Bruins。 Straightaway we are reintroduced to Lavinia Lucia。 Lavinia is the daughter of Lionel Lucia, King of Counts, who was sold to King Daniel Payne。It’s clear that Vinny’s life has not been easy。 She’s unquestionably been a pawn in her father’s quest for money and power, enduring trauma。 While it shows in her every interaction, she never acts like a victim。 In fact, she’s the epitome of strength: fierce and full of sass。 “Pretty” Nick who should have inherited his place with the Dukes as his birthright, he instead must earn the title。 As they say, “to the victor goes the spoils。” Locked away in the Velvet Hideaway for months, she has been released to attend Friday Night Fury where she’ll become the winner’s prize。“Even if he were being honest – even if this is the only love he’s capable of feeling – it’s corrupted and gnarled, and what I’m feeling must be heartbreak。“In this installment we also meet Sy and Remy who, are not pleased with Nick’s unilateral decision-making。 This creates a rift and further fractures an already fragile mental state for Remy。 Although these Dukes are far different from our Lords, there one thing they have in common is devotion to those who earn it。 A dysfunctional quad to be sure, yet when push comes to shove, they’re all in and it shows。 Outside of the action-packed storyline itself, getting a bit of Royals - not just Dukes - history was interesting and an element I really enjoyed。 Ruin was far darker than the Lords trilogy and we’re just getting started。 I’m desperate to see where this is all leading。 Will we learn the truth about Tate? Can Nick earn forgiveness? Will Leticia return? Will Lionel get everything he deserves? Will Perez? I can’t wait! This book was DARK DARK DARK and I am here for it。 I absolutely loved it!!! Oh wowzers …。 I thought the Lords were bad but the Dukes well these boys are something else entirely。 Lavinia, caged little bird trapped because of circumstances and family connections。 Nick, obsessive, possessive, controlling, narcissistic but somehow these trait’s all add up to something that really works and boy will he do anything to get his hands on his little bird。 Sy very insecure, who has this brooding angry vibe due a… sizeable problem which certainly makes for a hawt chemistry! 3。5 stars。 I admit, the initial trilogy about the Lords was a hate-read for me and I did NOT get why so many people raved about it。 So I was shocked to find that this book worked much better, and I genuinely enjoyed it。 Lavinia is a much better heroine than Story was。 It's easy to root for her, and understand her reasoning in the situations where she doesn't fight back。 Sometimes when heroines are "feral" types, it can seem over the top, but Lavinia truly has a reason to be feral。 She's that typ 3。5 stars。 I admit, the initial trilogy about the Lords was a hate-read for me and I did NOT get why so many people raved about it。 So I was shocked to find that this book worked much better, and I genuinely enjoyed it。 Lavinia is a much better heroine than Story was。 It's easy to root for her, and understand her reasoning in the situations where she doesn't fight back。 Sometimes when heroines are "feral" types, it can seem over the top, but Lavinia truly has a reason to be feral。 She's that type of heroine in a way that is not annoying and feels natural to her life experience — and it makes her personality feel very compatible with these specific guys。 And where all 3 guys were off- putting to me in the first trilogy, in this book, only one of the guys is (Sy)。 The other two guys, Nick and Remy, are easy to like。 Nick is the highlight。 I’m not sure why so many authors think that the most interesting “enemies to lovers” dynamic is one where the hero treats the heroine like dirt。 That’s boring。 Nick embodies the best version of that trope — which is where the hero does terrible stuff to the heroine, but he’s also disconcertingly loving at times and does clearly care for her in his own unhinged way, which is a mindfuck (both for the heroine and for the reader)。 That dynamic is SO much more interesting than one where the hero just hates on the heroine, and it instantly won me over to Nick。 The worldbuilding still makes very little sense, with gangs blending into frats blending into “royal” positions where the Royals ARE frats but are also older adult businessmen crime lords。 And, guys openly having women as sort of pets, and nobody at this college blinks twice。 Even though the College / Academy RH genre has a high threshold for nonsense, and books can still be enjoyable when the worldbuilding leaves a lot to be desired (see: J Bree's Mounts Bay books), I can't stress enough how little sense this all makes。 But, there is a BIT more logic in this book than in "Lords of Pain" and more of this world gets fleshed out。 There’s also a real plot。 Several mysteries are set up (where Lavinia’s sister is, whether Tate really was murdered and what happened there, what Lavinia keeps counting down to, WHY Nick is being a Duke)。 So even though this book takes its sweet time and could have been shorter, the plot is the right amount of busy (not too much going on, but not too little)。 This might have been rounded up from 3。5 to 4 stars, but one thing stuck out as a big Nope: Sy is the member of the group who is the angriest and also has a giant dick that’s so large, he can’t even use it — AND he’s also the only man of color。 As soon as I realized that, I said “YIKES!” aloud。 Do I think these authors leaned into racist stereotypes on purpose? Probably not。 But regardless of their intentions, it’s not a good look!Aside from that Sy factor that left a bad taste in my mouth, overall, where the first trilogy was a hate-read for me, this one will be a genuine read。 I'm looking forward to seeing where this is all going。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I should of waited till the next book came out…The 3 guys are all fucked up in someway。 I felt that two of the guys could redeem themselves for what they would do early on in the book。But Asshole Nick he did one horrible thing after another and claimed to “love her”the whole time。Of course somehow she will be able to forgive him for raping her twice , torturing her and for betraying her cause his feelings got hurt。 I hope she makes him suffer first!!

When I first started this book, I was expecting the Lords。 I didn't get the Lords and at first I was disappointed but I kept reading。 Angel and Sam had warned us, this one was going to be darker, guess I didn't believe them until I did。 I have love/hate relationship with Nick, I want to smack him and hug him at the same time。 Simon is my man, though he can be a complete a-hole he has well meaning intentions。 Remy is like the glue that holds everyone together。This book blew me away, it is rougher When I first started this book, I was expecting the Lords。 I didn't get the Lords and at first I was disappointed but I kept reading。 Angel and Sam had warned us, this one was going to be darker, guess I didn't believe them until I did。 I have love/hate relationship with Nick, I want to smack him and hug him at the same time。 Simon is my man, though he can be a complete a-hole he has well meaning intentions。 Remy is like the glue that holds everyone together。This book blew me away, it is rougher than the Lords but Lavinia's story is worth it。 Those boys care they're just rough around the edges and they aren't sure how to show it。 Sometimes you have to let your walls be broken and busted down for someone to get in who will really care。 I loved this book, I'm so glad I didn't give up when I was sure I wouldn't like it。 Sam and Angel have never disappointed me and I didn't think they'd start now。Though I can't wait to see Pretty Nick's take on Lavinia being where she belongs。 。。。more

Obviously, if you’ve read Lords, you would have high expectations for Dukes…and I can tell you that it 100% lived up to my high expectations。 The way the authors write the characters and the story, you get sucked into this world。 Lavinia is so strong, when she should be broken。 Nick is relentless in trying to get Lavinia to love him。 Sy is a beast (and it sounds like he has a beast), and while you’d never think he has a caring bone in his body, the authors make sure you know it’s there。 And Remy Obviously, if you’ve read Lords, you would have high expectations for Dukes…and I can tell you that it 100% lived up to my high expectations。 The way the authors write the characters and the story, you get sucked into this world。 Lavinia is so strong, when she should be broken。 Nick is relentless in trying to get Lavinia to love him。 Sy is a beast (and it sounds like he has a beast), and while you’d never think he has a caring bone in his body, the authors make sure you know it’s there。 And Remy。 Remy。 I’m a psychologist and it was Remy that tore me apart。 The way Remy was portrayed, on that pinnacle between sanity and madness was electrifying。 Each of these boys has his own issues, but they are each enamored by Lavinia。 And Lavinia shows so much strength but will definitely not make it easy on her Dukes。I was also happy to see some cameos by our beloved Lords and their Lady。 This book is a must read…so what are you waiting for? 。。。more

Dukes of Ruin is book 4 in the Royals of Forsyth University series, book 1 in the Dukes trilogy。 While the Lords and the Dukes stories are both their own。 I believe reading them in order is necessary to get the full world and understanding of the Royals。 Lavinia is a fierce firecracker that will not yield。 She was given by her father the Count’s King to the previous Lords King, Daniel Payne to keep as a prisoner to break her spirit and punish her。 The Dukes: Pretty Nick, we first meet in him in Dukes of Ruin is book 4 in the Royals of Forsyth University series, book 1 in the Dukes trilogy。 While the Lords and the Dukes stories are both their own。 I believe reading them in order is necessary to get the full world and understanding of the Royals。 Lavinia is a fierce firecracker that will not yield。 She was given by her father the Count’s King to the previous Lords King, Daniel Payne to keep as a prisoner to break her spirit and punish her。 The Dukes: Pretty Nick, we first meet in him in the Lords series。 His role is very different in the southside than as a Bruin legacy。 He appears to be more than just a pretty face。 Sy, Nick’s brother has been groomed to become a Duke but he has a raging monster under his skin。 A fighter to the core。 Remy, is the troubled artist。 The most troubled by their shared pastLavinia and Dukes are chaos and insanity in the best possible way。 The Lords is by far one of my favourite series and I had very high hopes for this next instalment and I was not disappointed。 Angel & Samantha’s writing has you needing to dive right in and not stop reading。 The blend of characters personalities and lets call them eccentricities is so captivating。 The characters always hold flaws, they never hold the unrealistic ideal of perfection。 Which is so refreshing to read in dark romance, especially bully romance。 These characters are depraved, cold and murderous, but no excuses are made for their actions。 Angst and trauma are what they’re built on。 While I am not triggered by this series I recommend reading the trigger warnings before reading。 These characters are not just morally grey they’re dark as night and make no apologies for their actions。 Some triggers may include but are not limited to bully themes, dub/non con, self harm, captivity and a whole lot of emotional manipulation。 If that doesn’t sound like your jam or something you can handle, don’t read this series。 。。。more

The first book in the Dukes section of the series is very character-driven。 Unlike in the Lords series, most of the guys don't have a history with Lavinia, so there is a lot of building that。 In many ways, this book is darker than the Lords' first book, but I think it somehow didn't seem as dark because Lavinia is such a strong woman。 She was much Dukes of Ruin is the 4th book in the Forsyth University series。 This one is a whole new frat, so new cheaters and a new story, and both were amazing! The actual plot doesn't show up until close to the end of the book。 As with the first book, there is a mystery here to be solved。 We just get the first bits and pieces of it this book, but I am very excited to see what happens there。 So much happened toward the end of this book that the wait for the next book will be excruciating! 。。。more
Andrea,
This book was absolutely amazing! I was really curious how different this book would be compared to the Lords trilogy and let me just tell you that Angel and Sam blew my expectations out of the water。 The plot is great and then men are *chef’s kiss*。 They are so rough around the edges and I cannot wait to see this character development in the coming books。
